This is What Samus Listens to in Her Gunship: Metroid Metal

Who doesn’t love the music from Metroid? Every Metroid game has an amazing soundtrack, and though Metroid Prime is the only one I’ve ever played extensively, I can say that the music I heard while playing what little I have of the other ones I love. Metal seems to be a good genre to reimagine these songs – thus we have Metroid Metal.

Is it just me, or does the guy in the red flannel kind of look like me...?

I found out about these guys about the time that I found out about Knight of the Round. I’ve been saving this post for a rainy day (ha, get it, cause I live in Southwest Florida and it’s summer? …Trust me, it’s hilarious. Rains here everyday).  I figured it was about time I shared them with you all when I watched a video by the Youtuber Extra Credits that basically tells you everything you need to know about them. So! I’m going to let him do so! Check out the video, then if you like what you’ve heard, you can check out their three albums below right from their bandcamp.

Pretty awesome right? I’m definitely going to have to check out Stemage. I probably won’t be able to go, but if any of you are in the area, Metroid Metal is playing at the Orlando Nerd Fest on August 7th. Here’s a link to the full line up.

If you like what you hear please support the band. It will allow them to make more awesome Metroid music that you can continue to enjoy. If they ever press their albums on vinyl I will totally be all over that. Here are a list of links to Metroid Metal and Extra Credits’ Facebook pages along with Extra Credits’ Youtube channel:

What do you think of these guys? Any favorite songs yet? Have any bands you want to recommend me? Leave it all in the comments!

– Jarrod

Jarrod’s first console was a Playstation back in 1997 and has been gaming ever since. After years of being stupid and selling most of his games and consoles, he started game collecting in 2013. His main focus is the original Playstation but is interested in most consoles. Between gaming and his record collection it’s almost guaranteed that he’s going to be poor.
